Nicasa Bridge House, located in Waukegan, Illinois, is a coeducational residential halfway house dedicated to supporting adults recovering from substance use disorders. Established in 1972, it was Lake County’s first facility of its kind, offering a structured and supportive environment to facilitate the transition from treatment to independent, sober living.
Residents at Bridge House engage in personalized treatment programs designed to promote lasting recovery. Within the first 30 days, individuals are encouraged to secure employment, connect with a recovery sponsor, and establish a network of 25 recovery contacts. This proactive approach fosters personal responsibility and community integration.
The facility offers comprehensive services, including individual therapy, daily group sessions, and access to various support resources. Weekly rent covers accommodation, meals, counseling, and participation in weekend recreational activities. For those with co-occurring mental health disorders, specialized treatment is available to address conditions such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder.
Emphasizing holistic recovery, Bridge House provides nutrition counseling and opportunities for recreational and social engagement. Educational services, including HIV/AIDS risk reduction education, are integral to the program. Residents typically stay for approximately four months, during which they benefit from a strong support system and structured environment designed to aid in their recovery journey.
Nicasa Behavioral Health Services, the nonprofit organization operating Bridge House, has been serving Lake County since 1966. Their mission is to transform lives through a continuum of care that encompasses education, prevention, treatment, and recovery services. All services are offered in both English and Spanish, ensuring accessibility for a diverse clientele.
