The Center for Wellness and Recovery of Northeast Georgia, located at 467 West Doyle Street in Toccoa, Georgia, is a dedicated facility addressing substance use and mental health disorders. Established in May 2021, the center emerged from a community-driven initiative to combat the opioid crisis in Stephens County, which ranked 9th out of 159 counties for opioid prescriptions per capita in 2019. The founding stakeholders, under the banner “Hope for a Drug Free Stephens,” prioritized creating local detox and treatment solutions, leading to the center’s inception.
The center offers a comprehensive 30-day residential program beginning with a medically supervised detoxification process lasting approximately 5 to 7 days. This initial phase ensures safe withdrawal under continuous medical supervision. Following detox, clients engage in individualized treatment plans that encompass individual, group, and peer counseling sessions. These sessions are facilitated by certified addiction counselors and are designed to address the underlying causes of addiction while promoting sustained recovery.
Medical services are integral to the treatment approach, with oversight from the Medical Director. The center provides medication management and collaborates with clients to navigate insurance coverage and financial considerations. For those with opioid use disorders, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is available, combining FDA-approved medications with counseling and behavioral therapies to reduce cravings and support long-term sobriety.
Family involvement is encouraged through dedicated counseling sessions, recognizing the pivotal role of a supportive home environment in the recovery journey. The center’s mission is to instill hope and partner with individuals and their families, guiding them toward a healthier, addiction-free life.
