A Woman’s Addiction Recovery Effort (AWARE) is a specialized residential program designed to support women in long-term recovery. Licensed for 15 residential and 15 halfway beds, AWARE offers a nurturing environment where mothers can reside with their infants during treatment. The facility features 11 uniquely themed suites, each representing a different country, fostering a therapeutic and educational atmosphere. This program empowers women to heal in a structured setting while maintaining their maternal bond.
As part of Chemical Addictions Recovery Effort (CARE), Inc., AWARE operates within a broader network of comprehensive substance use treatment services. CARE, a non-profit organization based in Panama City, Florida, provides prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery programs across Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, and Washington counties.
Beyond AWARE, CARE offers a medically supervised Detox Unit staffed 24/7 by nurses and an on-call physician. The facility includes seven beds for men, six for women, and one short-stay bed, ensuring safe withdrawal with minimal medication. Clients are encouraged to transition into residential or outpatient treatment post-detox.
CARE’s outpatient services cater to adolescents and adults in multiple locations, including Panama City, Marianna, Blountstown, Bonifay, Chipley, and Port St. Joe. These programs include assessments, counseling, and personalized treatment plans, with sliding-scale fees for accessibility.
A strong emphasis on community support enhances CARE’s approach, integrating Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.) and Narcotics Anonymous (N.A.) as key recovery resources. The organization collaborates with local agencies to provide holistic, coordinated care.
Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, CARE is funded through the Florida Department of Children and Families, Medicaid, patient fees, donations, and local contracts. The agency follows strict federal and state confidentiality laws to protect client privacy.
