Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC) is a well-established nonprofit organization headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. Founded in 1969 by a group of students and community leaders, CPLC began as a response to racial discrimination and inequality. Over the years, it has grown into one of the largest Latino nonprofits in the United States, while continuing to honor its Mexican American roots and serving individuals of all backgrounds.
CPLC offers a wide range of services designed to empower communities and support individuals in achieving self-sufficiency and well-being. Its programs focus on health and human services, providing support for behavioral health, substance abuse, domestic violence survivors, and seniors, as well as resources for parenting education, immigration assistance, and HIV services. Housing initiatives address critical needs, from homelessness to affordable housing and homeownership, with specialized programs for veterans and rural communities.
Education is another key pillar of CPLC’s mission, offering opportunities from early childhood development to adult education, scholarships, and enrichment programs for youth. The organization also fosters economic growth through workforce development, small business support, and lending programs aimed at revitalizing neighborhoods and creating job opportunities. Advocacy remains at the heart of CPLC’s work, pushing for equitable policies that benefit underserved communities.
Operating across six states in the Southwest, CPLC impacts nearly one million people each year. Led by experienced professionals, such as President and CEO Alicia Nuñez, the organization remains committed to creating systemic change and empowering individuals to lead lives of dignity and independence.
