Oshki Maaji New Beginnings is a residential substance use treatment program operated by a Tribal government organization through the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Substance Abuse Programs. The facility provides structured housing and recovery services for adults and young adults experiencing substance use disorders, including individuals with co-occurring mental health conditions. Services include substance use counseling, relapse prevention, trauma-related counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and 12-step facilitation. The program also offers assessment services, case management, family counseling, and discharge planning with continued aftercare support.
The program operates in L’Anse, a small community located along Lake Superior in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The area is known for natural surroundings, seasonal weather changes, and a quieter environment compared to larger urban centers. Oshki Maaji New Beginnings provides long-term residential care combined with transitional housing support intended to help individuals maintain stability during recovery. Additional services may include educational support, vocational assistance, transportation coordination, and community outreach activities. Services are available to adult men and women, including individuals involved with the criminal justice system or those managing both substance use and mental health needs.
