Mission of Mercy Shoals (MOMS Inc.), established in 2000 in Florence, Alabama, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to assisting individuals affected by alcoholism and drug addiction. Their mission is to provide comprehensive support to those seeking recovery from substance abuse.
MOMS offers a faith-based residential rehabilitation program for both men and women, certified by the Alabama Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Division. The program integrates the 12-step principles of Alcoholics Anonymous, emphasizing total abstinence from drugs and alcohol, accountability, respect, responsibility, honesty, and willingness. Residents are required to attend daily 12-step meetings for the first ninety days, followed by a minimum of five meetings per week thereafter. This structure aims to equip individuals with essential skills in chemical dependency education, addiction recovery, relapse prevention, and anger management.
In addition to residential services, MOMS provides timely substance abuse assessments, treatment placement, and counseling services. Recognizing the urgency of addressing substance abuse, they offer same-day assessments and ensure appointments are scheduled within 24 to 48 hours. Their counseling services encompass individual, couples, and family therapy, with specialized approaches such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to address trauma-related issues.
The dedicated team at MOMS includes experienced professionals like Anthony Bradley, BS, Executive Director and Co-Founder; David McCullough, MA, LPC-S, NCC, Clinical Director and Co-Founder; and Rod Bowling, ADC, ICADC, Program Manager and Addiction Counselor. Their combined expertise ensures the delivery of quality care and support to clients on their recovery journey.
MOMS Inc. is committed to providing a safe, alcohol and drug-free community for individuals seeking recovery. By fostering a supportive environment structured by spiritual principles, they aim to help residents become productive, law-abiding citizens, thereby breaking the cycle of addiction and its associated challenges.
