The VA Northern Indiana Healthcare System (VANIHCS) is dedicated to providing high-quality medical care to Veterans across northern Indiana. Established in 1995 from the merger of the Fort Wayne and Marion hospitals, it has since grown into a comprehensive healthcare network that ensures Veterans receive the support they need. The system operates two main medical centers: the Marion VA Medical Center, located at 1700 East 38th Street in Marion, and the Fort Wayne VA Medical Center at 2121 Lake Avenue in Fort Wayne. In addition to these hospitals, several outpatient clinics in cities such as Defiance, Huntington, Mishawaka, Muncie, and Peru extend services to a broader community of Veterans.
VANIHCS offers a wide range of medical services, including primary care, mental health support, rehabilitation programs, and specialty care such as pain management, hospice, and palliative care. Veterans struggling with PTSD, depression, anxiety, or substance use disorders have access to counseling, group therapy, and medication management to support their recovery. Physical, occupational, and speech therapy are also available to help individuals regain independence and functionality. Additionally, the healthcare system provides audiology, optometry, and women’s health services to meet the diverse medical needs of its patients.
Committed to patient-centered care, VANIHCS offers specialized programs such as caregiver support, LGBTQ+ Veteran care, and services tailored to minority Veterans. These programs ensure that every individual receives the respect, resources, and medical attention they deserve. Led by a dedicated team of healthcare professionals, the VA Northern Indiana Healthcare System remains focused on delivering exceptional care and improving the lives of those who have served. Veterans and their families are encouraged to explore the wide range of services available and reach out for support when needed.
