Southern Peaks Regional Treatment Center (SPRTC), located in Cañon City, Colorado, is a specialized psychiatric residential treatment facility dedicated to serving male and female youth aged 10 to 18. The center provides a structured, therapeutic environment to support adolescents facing significant emotional, social, behavioral, and psychiatric challenges.
SPRTC employs a multidisciplinary treatment approach, integrating medical professionals, therapists, educators, and families to create individualized care plans. The center offers two primary levels of care: a sub-acute program designed for females, focusing on community-oriented treatment, and an acute program for both genders, providing intensive, highly individualized psychiatric care.
The facility offers a comprehensive range of evidence-based therapeutic services, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Equine Assisted Therapy, and Recreational Therapy. Additional services include social skills training, substance use treatment, and psychiatric support, ensuring a holistic approach to recovery.
Education is a core component of SPRTC’s program, featuring year-round schooling with special education services, individualized education plans (IEPs), credit recovery, and GED preparation. A dedicated 16-week Life Skills Program also helps residents develop essential competencies in financial literacy, career exploration, home management, and risk prevention.
