Volunteers of America (VOA) Alaska, established in 1981, is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering the state’s youth, young adults, and families through comprehensive behavioral health and well-being services. With a commitment to serving underserved populations, VOA Alaska offers a continuum of care that includes mental health therapy, substance use counseling, family therapy, supportive housing, and residential treatment.
One of their cornerstone programs is the Adolescent Residential Center for Help (ARCH), located in Eagle River. ARCH provides a structured, therapeutic environment for youth to address substance use and co-occurring mental health challenges. The facility features two residential wings with 18 beds, a full-service industrial kitchen, a gym with a climbing wall and basketball hoop, classrooms, and group rooms, all designed to create a comfortable and healing space.
VOA Alaska also offers outpatient behavioral health services, including mental health therapy and substance use counseling, available both in-person and statewide via telehealth. Their school-based mental health program places clinicians in schools throughout Anchorage to provide on-site support to students, staff, and families.
For young adults aged 18-24, the Transition-Age Youth Services program offers wraparound support, including housing assistance, mental health and substance use services, and employment and education support to build self-sufficiency.
As a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, VOA Alaska ensures that no one is turned away due to an inability to pay, offering services at low or no cost to those in need.
