Family Guidance Centers, Inc. (FGC) is a not-for-profit behavioral health organization dedicated to treating and preventing substance use disorders and related conditions. With over 25 years of experience, FGC offers a comprehensive range of evidence-based services across Illinois, including medication-assisted recovery for individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
FGC operates 14 outpatient clinics, two residential treatment centers, and seven mobile units, collectively serving over 9,000 patients annually. Their programs encompass substance use prevention, mobile services and harm reduction, hospital-based medically managed withdrawal services (detoxification), stabilization and transitional services, outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment, and residential services. They also provide specialized programs such as the Minority AIDS Initiative, mental health services, adolescent services, recovery home services, and a Recovery Oriented System of Care (ROSC).
A cornerstone of FGC’s approach is harm reduction. They ensure that no patient is terminated from care for returning to substance use and provide harm reduction supplies and education. To enhance accessibility, FGC offers telehealth counseling and support services, operates a statewide 24/7 MAR NOW helpline for immediate access to medications for alcohol and opioid use disorders, and provides transportation assistance, including Uber Health rides and bus passes.
FGC is accredited by The Joint Commission, licensed by the Illinois Department of Human Services Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery (IDHS/SUPR), and certified by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). They are committed to serving all individuals, regardless of insurance status, income, or documentation status, ensuring equitable access to compassionate care.
