The Shoulder is a non-profit, Christian-based alcohol and drug treatment center located at 31214 Coleman Lane, Spanish Fort, Alabama. Dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment, their mission is to restore individuals and families struggling with alcohol and drug addiction through affordable, faith-centered care.
This facility offers a structured men’s residential program built on spiritual principles, the Twelve Steps, and recovery-oriented methods. Clients collaborate closely with counselors to create individualized treatment plans, which include individual and group counseling, community recovery group participation, life skills development, spiritual growth activities, and monthly recreational therapy sessions. The program also features equine-assisted therapy in partnership with a local provider, offering a unique and therapeutic experience.
A notable component of the program is the requirement for residents to work full-time, fostering accountability and aiding in life reintegration. Upon completing the Low Intensity Residential Program, clients can transition to the Transitional Residential Program, which promotes increased independence while maintaining supportive care. The facility operates on a sliding fee scale to ensure financial accessibility and does not turn clients away based on their inability to pay.
By combining spiritual principles with evidence-based therapies, The Shoulder offers a compassionate and comprehensive approach to recovery, fostering lasting positive changes for clients and their communities.
